Botox and dermal fillers can be used as injectable cosmetic procedures, but they do not have the same mechanism of action. Botox, a neurotoxin, paralyses muscles temporarily, reducing dynamic wrinkles produced by facial expressions like forehead lines, frown lines, and lines at the corner of the eye (crow's feet). In its turn, Filler refers to the products included to supplement the face with volume, fill in the lines, and correct the areas of the face in question. Fillers are indicated to augment thin lips, to fill in deep crevices such as nasolabial folds, and to lift cheeks and under-eye hollows. Botox produces a smoother skin with reduced expression lines, and fillers have immediate effects, bringing fuller skin and a more youthful, contoured look. Depending on the type, the Botox effect lasts 3-4 months, fillers anywhere between several months and a couple of years.
