Scars are characterised by fibrous tissues which form to heal the skin injuries and may cause a cosmetic or psychological problem. Although scars cannot be eliminated, they can be treated for a better appearance and operation in modern times. Cosmetic disfigurement, especially on visible scars on the face, neck or hands, is the most common reason used to treat the scars. Physical dysfunction may also be brought about by the scarring around joints, which impairs movement, which is one reason to treat it. Also, there are painful or itchy scars, such as keloids, and a therapy treatment mitigates these conditions. Due to pronounced scarring, hypertrophic scars (keloids) are treated to pad them down. Depressed or atrophic scars, such as the acne scars, are treated to raise the depressed lines. The primary consequence is an improved cosmetic outcome, with scars less raised, smoother, and less pigmented. Treatment enhances skin texture and smoothness as well. Flexibility and movement are affected by scars that have produced tightness, and therapy can improve them. Lastly, sorely needed symptomatic relief and enhanced self-esteem are the key results of effective scar management.
